BERKS COUNTY, Pa. — The Central Berks Regional Police Department and the broader community are mourning the loss of Officer Kristen Yeager, 42, of Boyertown, who died Friday evening in a tragic traffic crash while responding to an emergency call.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, Yeager was traveling in her police vehicle on West Philadelphia Avenue near the intersection with Manatawny Road in Earl Township around 7:50 p.m. when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. She was ejected from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
“Officer Yeager served our community with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication,” the Central Berks Regional Police Department said in a statement. “She answered the call to protect and serve each day, placing the safety of others above her own. Her commitment to her badge, her fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten.”
Yeager’s passing has left a profound void among her fellow officers, friends, family, and the many residents she served throughout her career. Colleagues remember her as a devoted and fearless officer whose dedication to protecting others went above and beyond the call of duty.
In recognition of Yeager’s sacrifice, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro ordered flags across the state to be flown at half-staff. “The women and men who wear the uniform put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe, and we owe them our deepest gratitude,” Shapiro said.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances of the crash to determine contributing factors. Authorities have not indicated that alcohol or any other impairment was involved.
Officer Kristen Yeager’s life and service will be remembered by all who knew her. Her bravery, compassion, and dedication to her community stand as a lasting legacy. Family, friends, and colleagues are asked to keep her memory alive and honor her commitment to public safety.
Her funeral arrangements and memorial services will be announced by the family and the Central Berks Regional Police Department in the coming days.
